ABOUT ME KAREN FRIIS
Freelance Graphic Artist
I am an innovative creative graphic designer, with a passion for creating visually stunning designs. With years of experience in the industry, I have developed a keen eye for detail and a unique style that sets me apart from the rest. My dedication to my craft and commitment to delivering exceptional results make me a valuable asset to any project.

As a designer, I am not just a steward of art but a fervent advocate for culture and creativity. I actively seek out emerging artists and promote their work, contributing to the flourishing of the local art scene.

Beyond my professional and familial roles, I find immense satisfaction in giving back to the community. I am a committed volunteer, offering my time and skills to causes close to my heart.

I am currently sitting as Director of Marketing and Fund Coordination at newly formed local non-profit organization CAUSE WE CAN - Bruce Grey.

MY BACKGROUND KAREN FRIIS
Born and raised in Denmark.
From a young age, I’ve been drawn to the clean, clever lines of Danish design, which has had a lasting influence on my aesthetic. Creativity has always been a guiding force in my life, and I’ve honed that through many experiences. Growing up as the oldest of six children, my life was full of organized chaos, teaching me how to stay on top of things while juggling multiple tasks—a skill I carry into every project I take on.

My family’s journey to Canada led me through many parts of Ontario, including formative years spent in both Ottawa and Toronto. These moves allowed me to soak in the diverse culture and energy of each city. I’ve always found inspiration in people—their passion for their businesses, their products, and the stories they want to tell. I pride myself on having a sharp sense of the current zeitgeist, blending today’s trends with a dash of what’s to come.

After excelling in design school, life took an unexpected but thrilling turn when I moved north and bought a restaurant. For 15 years, I poured my heart into running my pub, Duffy's Fish & Chips, an experience that was as rewarding as it was intense. As every restaurateur will tell you, it’s an adventure filled with highs, lows and a lot of hard work!

The pandemic brought unexpected changes, and I eventually sold the restaurant. But as one door closed, another opened, and I found myself at the Southampton Art Centre as Art Director and Gallery Manager. Surrounded by art and creativity every day, I’m constantly inspired by the talented artists I work with and the vibrant community we serve.

Currently employed as a content creator and blog writer for a dynamic marketing company, where I specialize in crafting engaging content that resonates with audiences. I also develop and implement strategic marketing campaigns that consistently deliver results, helping businesses grow their brand presence and reach. Working in a small but powerful team allows me to make a meaningful impact, bringing creativity and strategy together to achieve success.

Through every chapter of my career, one thing remains constant: my passion for creativity and connection. Whether I’m designing, managing a gallery, or strategizing a marketing plan, I thrive on bringing ideas to life and helping others tell their stories.
